Weight Loss: Compact Home Gyms Have Arrived

Images of a unit that folds up and slides under the bed or fits easily into a closet – that’s a compact home gym. Storage is the issue and a major selling point with compact home gyms. Fitness is the promoted benefit but it is the convenience of the storage aspect that attracts apartment dwellers and travellers to this class of equipment. Unfortunately for many, out of sight is out of mind. It may be we’re looking in the wrong closet – it’s the mindset that needs a workout. Maintaining Fitness What do we want from compact home gyms? It seems that, as a nation, we hold strange ideas about fitness and how to achieve it. If fitness is the real issue, then pointing our attention in that direction should yield some result in ‘getting fit’. The opposite seems to be the case for an ever enlarging group of Americans. Compact home gyms can and do play a part in maintaining fitness, but they cannot replace the other parts! What Is Fitness? Fitness is a healthy body and mind. A healthy body can function normally in an average setting and recovers quickly from stressful engagements. A healthy mind is positive, optimistic and can focus on issues and problems that come before it. Fitness is not a condemnation for personal weakness or conditions that are lacking. Fitness is a quality that raises the personal capacity to participate in life’s events with a better chance of success. So, let’s get fit! Diet And Exercise As we muster determination to improve ourselves, diet and exercise should be in top ten areas to work on. By adding one positive change to the mix of daily activities, momentum begins and that’s a start. The compact home gym is a great way to add a short but effective exercise regimen to the daily routine. But instead of packing it up and putting it away, I recommend unpacking it and putting it right in the middle of the living room floor – in front of the TV. Do you see where I’m heading with this? Until one’s focus immediately goes to the desired action or element of positive change, some serious attention getting is still required. It’s a little painful; an off track mind also acts like a muscle that is out of shape. To get the benefit you have to use the equipment. Let’s hope your spouse agrees or is at least supportive!
